La compagnia teatrale "The Play Group" quest'anno porterà in scena Dracula.
Il Senia di Comiso, grazie all'impegno della referente attività in L2 Emanuela Melfi, è riuscito, dopo il blocco dovuto alla pandemia, ad organizzare una mattinata teatrale in lingua inglese per gli alunni delle classi terze, quarte e quinte.
L'appuntamento è per martedì 24 gennaio 2023 in due turni (uno alle 9 e l'altro alle 11) presso il teatro Naselli di Comiso.
Poter assistere ad uno spettacolo del genere, con attori madrelingua che riescono ad interpretare opere di grande spessore culturale rendendole affascinanti e facilmente comprensibili e coinvolgenti per gli alunni, è sicuramente un'iniziativa di grandissimo rilievo, alle quale hanno risposto in massa con grande entusiasmo.
Sono invitati a partecipare allo spettacolo il Sindaco Prof.ssa Maria Rita Schembari, l'assessore Dante Di Trapani, i rappresentanti del consiglio di Istituto e i rappresentanti di tutte le classi.

The story
An English property agent named Michael Morris receives a letter from a Count Dracula, who wants to buy a house in England. Morris sends a contract his assistant, Jonathan Harker to make the long journey to Count Dracula's castle in Transylvania.
At first Dracula is very hospitable but soon Harker discovers that he cannot leave the castle and is in fact a prisoner! One night, Harker tries to escape but is stopped by three beautiful female vampires, the brides of Dracula. They try to bite him but the Count stops them. Later, Harker discovers that Dracula sleeps in a coffin in a room under the castle during the day and steals babies from the town nearby.
In the next part of the story, we go to England and meet Harker's fiancée Mina, and a young lady named Lucy.
Then a Russian ship is destroyed in Whitby, north England, during a terrible storm. An animal like a large dog jumps off the ship, which is carrying a cargo of 50 boxes of earth from Transylvania.
We discover that the dog is Dracula who shows the ability to transform into other shapes. He has arrived in England and soon shows great interest in Mina and her friend, Lucy. Soon afterwards Mina observes that her friend is acting strangely and finds two little holes in Lucy’s neck.
Dracula meets Renfield, an insane man who captures and eats insects, spiders, birds, and other creatures to absorb their ‘life force’. Renfield begins to act as a kind of vampire servant for Dracula.
Finally, Mina receives news from Harker. He has escaped from Dracula’s castle and is in Budapest. But he is not well, so Mina travels to Hungary to accompany him back to England. Meanwhile, Lucy is not well, and becomes weaker and paler. The specialist vampire hunter, Dr. Van Helsing arrives and gives Lucy a blood transfusion but is unsuccessful and she dies.
Harker and Mina return to London. Meanwhile Dracula is creating chaos: several babies have disappeared near the cemetery. Harker describes his experiences in Dracula's castle to Van Helsing, who connects Dracula with Lucy; he realizes that Lucy has become a vampire and is abducting and biting local children. Van Helsing and Morgan capture Lucy. They drive a wooden stake through her heart and cut off her head. Finally she can rest in peace.
Meanwhile, Dracula has chosen Mina for his next victim and begins to turn her into a vampire. Van Helsing and the others try to save her, but realise they have to kill Dracula to do it. They find Dracula in his London home but he manages to escape. They follow him to Europe, and after a chase they drive a knife through his heart and cut off his head. As Dracula's body disintegrates, Mina is saved. She and Harker will later get married.
La storia inizia con il personaggio di Jonathan Harker, agente immobiliare inglese il quale intraprende un lungo viaggio dall'Inghilterra al castello del Conte Dracula nella regione rumena chiamata Transilvania. Jonathan lavora per Michael Morgan che sta aiutando Dracula di acquistare una casa a Londra.
In un primo momento Dracula è molto ospitale, ma ben presto Harker scopre che è diventato suo prigioniero nel castello e non può lasciarlo. Una notte, mentre cerca di scappare dal castello, Harker viene attaccato da tre vampiri femmina, le spose di Dracula. Esse cercano di morderlo, ma il conte le ferma. Più tardi, Harker scopre che Dracula durante il giorno dorme in una bara all'interno di una stanza sotto il castello e che le notti le passa a rubare i bambini della città vicina.
La parte successiva del romanzo, è ambientata in Inghilterra e incontriamo Mina la fidanzata di Harker e una giovane donna di nome Lucy.
Poco dopo, una nave russa è distrutta a Whitby, Inghilterra del Nord, nel corso di una violenta tempesta. Un animale grande come un cane salta giù dalla nave, che trasporta un carico di 50 scatole di terra provenienti da Transilvania.
Scopriamo che il cane è Dracula il quale ha la capacità di trasformarsi in altre forme. Dracula in Inglilterra dimostra subito grande interesse per Mina e la sua amica Lucy. Poco dopo Mina si accorge che la sua amica si comporta in modo strano e trova due piccoli fori nel collo di Lucy.
Dracula incontra Renfield, un uomo folle che cattura e si nutre di insetti, ragni, uccelli e altre creature per assorbire la loro 'forza vitale'. Renfield comincia ad agire come una sorta di vampiro servo di Dracula.
Infine, Mina riceve notizie da Harker. Egli è riuscito a fuggire dal castello di Dracula ed è a Budapest. Ma non sta bene, Mina decide di andare in Ungheria per ricondurlo in Inghilterra. Nel frattempo, le condizioni di Lucy peggiorano e diventa sempre più debole e più pallida. Il cacciatore di vampiri dottor Van Helsing entra in scena e dà Lucy trasfusioni di sangue ma purtroppo lei muore.
Harker e Mina tornano a Londra. Nel frattempo Dracula sta creando il caos. Diversi bambini piccoli sono scomparsi nei pressi del cimitero dove è stata sepolta Lucy. Harker descrive le sue esperienze nel castello di Dracula a Van Helsing, che connette Dracula con Lucy; si rende conto che Lucy è diventata una vampira ed sta sequestrando e uccidendo i bambini locali. Van Helsing e Morgan catturarano il vampiro Lucy, le trafiggono il cuore con un palo di legno . Alla fine ella può riposare in pace.
Nel frattempo, Dracula ha scelto Mina come sua prossima vittima e inizia a trasformarla in un vampiro. Van Helsing e gli altri cercano di salvarla, ma si rendono conto di dover uccidere Dracula per poterlo fare. Trovano Dracula nella casa di Londra, ma riesce a fuggire. Lo seguono in tutta Europa, ma alla fine riescono ad uccidelo. Mentre il corpo di Dracula si disintegra, Mina viene salvata e puo cos' sposare Harker.
